Before we get into Email marketing, it's important to know what exactly is an email. Email is a decade old technology that was used generations back to communicate. Before there was Facebook or any other chatbots or chat messengers, there was email that was used by people to communicate, it includes a sender and the recipients.

I guess the most common answer that I can give you is that people still use email more than other platforms. According to Google almost 70% of the users use their smartphones to check the emails. And almost 99% of those 70% users at least open their emails once a day.

According to Google people who buy products marketed through email spend 138% more than those who do not receive email offers. In fact email marketing has an ROI of 122% .The customers are often looking for emails from their favourite stores. To put it simply email is the best way to make sales online.

Everyday our personal inboxes are bombarded by various email newsletters by companies such as Zomato, Swiggy, Uber with new offers and discounts to attract customers. Now the question is why we use different email platforms and why not Google mail that is Gmail to mail our customers? The answer is that even though we can send emails from Gmail, we cannot program or script our emails, we cannot design our emails, we cannot see the activity of our subscribers that's why we use different email platforms such as Mailchimp, ConvertKit etc. At the end of the day, it is important to know that we are guests to our customers, they get tons of emails every day so why open ours?

That's why it is important to make an email that stands out among the crowd. It is important to take step by step action to tap into our audience territory, getting them to subscribe and sending a welcome newsletter, ensuring that permission is granted with persuasive texts and when the first step is taken it gives us a signal that our audience is also ready to take a step forward and is interested in our service.
In this case, it is also extremely important to know that the initial follow up or welcome email newsletter should be detailed and friendly. The customer should trust you enough to not to unsubscribe. It is important to be polite, respectful and provide value to them and also create a customer friendly relationship with them.

A simple insight into creating an effective email newsletter includes attractive headline, tempting design and persuasive description and definitely a subscribe button along with social share icons. In this case, it is necessary to avoid spam filters and divide your subscribers into various segments such as new subscribers, old subscribers, interest etc. It is also important to engage with your audience, understand their needs and provide the service accordingly. But then again segmentation and analytics can be done once you have mastered the basics.
